Barbershop Books, Inc.

BarbershopBooks, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that inspires Black boys and other vulnerable children to read for fun through child-centered, culturally responsive, and community-based programming and content. We believe that early, positive, and culturally meaningful reading experiences cultivate children’s reading identity and when children identify as readers, they read for fun and perform better in school. Barbershop Books distributes child-approved books to barbershops and community-based organizations across America. Our free new E-library contains independently published e-books from Black and Brown authors and fun read aloud videos.

Bay Area Discovery Museum (BADM)

Bay Area Discovery Museum (BADM) is a children’s museum at the foot of San Francisco’s iconic Golden Gate Bridge. The museum’s indoor/outdoor experience, seven exhibits, and daily programming provide fun, hands-on STEM and Art experiences that develop 21st century skills for children 0-10.

Bronx Children’s Museum

Currently a “museum without walls,” Bronx Children’s Museum serves almost 18,000 Bronx residents annually. Through innovative mobile programming, BxCM engages children and adults in the arts and sciences using its bus as a roving learning environment. To provide the Bronx’s children with an interactive place to learn and play, BxCM is developing, with the City, 13,000 square feet of space in a City-owned former powerhouse. The Museum space will conduct a “soft” opening in late 2021 and open its doors to the general public in early 2022.

Community-Word Project

Community-Word Project is a New York City based nonprofit arts-in-education organization that inspires children in underserved communities to read, interpret and respond to their world and to become active citizens in their communities through collaborative arts residencies. For over 23 years, CWP has been bringing the arts and literacy to K-12 classrooms in all five boroughs as well as the New York and Brooklyn Public Libraries. To date, Community-Word Project has educated over 31,000 children in New York City. CWP believes that every one of these young people has a unique voice that should be recognized and celebrated. Dancing Classrooms

Welcome to Dancing Classrooms! We cultivate engaged learners, collaborative leaders, and inclusive spaces through the joyful art and practice of social dances. Our programs introduce K-12th grade youth to culturally rich and collaborative dance forms like salsa, tango, swing, bhangra, bomba, hip hop and more. Dance Education Laboratory (DEL) at the 92nd Street Y

For over 25 years, Dance Education Laboratory (DEL) has been training and supporting the work of dance educators, equipping the teachers of today with the tools they need to succeed in the classroom. An experimental laboratory housed at the 92Y Harkness Dance Center, DEL is a safe place for new and experienced dance teachers to enhance their skills, develop sequential curriculum, and learn from one another.

Divinity Roxx presents Divi Roxx Kids

Divinity Roxx is a Grammy-nominated recording artist, composer, and musician. Her 2021 Family Music Album release, Ready Set Go! received a Grammy nomination and Scholastic Inc. published two songs from the album as full-color picture books. Her original compositions can be heard in YTA theatre, (The Boy Who Kissed the Sky, Into the Burrow: A Peter Rabbit Story). She composed the theme song for the PBS Kids show, ‘Lyla in the Loop’.  She is passionate about education, advocacy, and diversity. Her Divi Roxx Kids project aims to enrich the lives of children and young adults through inspiring, empowering, and entertaining music and media that educate and inspire them to be the best versions of themselves. Education Through Music was founded in 1991 to promote the integration of music into the curricula of under-resourced schools in order to enhance students’ overall performance and general development. ETM forms long-term partnerships with schools to develop sustainable, long-term music programs. Our music teachers teach general music, band, choir, orchestra, and music tech. They receive over 100 hours of dedicated professional development each year to ensure that they are providing their students with the level of excellence that every child deserves.

Feel Your Best Self (FYBS) is a unique partnership between the Collaboratory on School and Child Health (CSCH) and the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry at the University of Connecticut. Pairing collective expertise in educational psychology and puppetry, the team designed an evidence-informed, and highly engaging toolkit to learn simple emotion-focused coping strategies to calm yourself, catch your feelings, and connect with others. 

The FYBS toolkit includes fun ways that can be easily introduced into daily routines and existing activities. The freely accessible resources include 13 videos, all 5 minutes or less in length, that feature three puppet friends, Nico, CJ, and Mena, as they navigate day-to-day issues using these simple strategies. Supplemental materials include strategy cards and reflection sheets for kids as well as a facilitator guide geared for teachers, tip sheets for family caregivers, and a puppet-building guide.

Green Bronx Machine is an impact-driven, for-purpose organization with 501(c)(3) status serving public and private schools across America. Green Bronx Machine was born via a collaboration between life-long educator Stephen Ritz and his students in the South Bronx. Harold “Fyütch” Simmons II is a GRAMMY-nominated music and social justice artist.  From concerts and festivals to classrooms and corporate events, his experience as a musician, teacher, and speaker allows him to educate, entertain, and empower audiences of all ages and backgrounds. The name Fyütch, which was originally ‘Future,’ represents his philosophy of understanding where you’ve been to know where you’re going. Fyütch coined his music genre “Fyüsion,” a blend of Hip-Hop, R&B, Pop, and Soul. His work has been showcased on The Today Show, the Nick Cannon Show, and The New York Times.  As a songwriter and producer, Fyütch has contributed to Grammy-winning albums, radio charting songs, and original compositions for television and family media. A collaboration between Brooklyn musicians Jason Rabinowitz and Jacob Stein, The Pop Ups have been setting the standard for children’s music since 2010.
